Insurance & Financial
Faris Family Dental is committed to ensuring that your insurance policy’s benefits are compliantly used to make your treatment as affordable as possible. We will verify your coverage but can only estimate your out‐of‐pocket portion in good faith prior to treatment based on what we’re told by your dental insurance company about your benefits.
Because insurance policies are numerous and vary from patient to patient, please note that Faris Family Dental is not a third party to your contract as we file insurance as a courtesy service. Please familiarize yourself with your benefits as knowledge of benefits and policy stipulations (maximums, deductibles, waiting periods, limitations of service) is your responsibility as an insurance policy holder. Your estimated out‐of‐pocket portion will be due on the day of treatment. By asking Faris Family Dental to file insurance on your behalf, you are in agreement to paying any and all billed balances deemed your responsibility by the insurance company after insurance has paid.
No dental insurance? No problem! Please inform us! We will be happy to assist you.
We gladly accept cash, personal checks, money orders, VISA and MasterCard. Checks cannot be held and there is a $25 fee for returned checks . Though we welcome patients to build non‐refundable credits on their accounts for future treatment, financing is otherwise only offered through Care Credit, which offers 6 and 12 month no interest payment plans in the amounts of $300 or more. To apply, simply click on the Care Credit link below.
Preventive Hygiene Cleanings
Did you know that statistics have shown that patients who have their teeth cleaned by a hygienist and routinely evaluated by a dentist every six months are 60% less likely to have tooth decay and/or tooth loss? It's true - and we can prove that in our office as well!
Annually you should schedule a routine dental cleaning. This is a perfect opportunity for children to be introduced to the dentist and dental treatment! We begin seeing children at age 3. During this visit, one of our dental hygienists will remove plaque from your teeth, especially from places that your daily toothbrush cannot reach, such as underneath gum line and in-between teeth. We will then clean your teeth and apply fluoride (if necessary) to help protect them once you leave the office. Children may also have sealants placed for the prevention of cavities.
Fluoride is a relatively recent but important advancement in dental and oral health. Studies consistently show that a safe, moderate, yet consistent exposure of fluoride to teeth in controlled varnishes, toothpastes and mouth rinses helps to strengthen and rebuild tooth structure, as well as prevent future decay leading to cavities. Faris Family Dental stands behind the American Dental Association's support of safe, moderate and controlled fluoride treatment being in the best interest of the general public's oral and overall health. Safer Digital X-Rays
Radiographs are needed by the doctor and clinical team to properly determine treatment for any underlying decay or issues that may not be visable to the human eye. In addition, many insurance companies are now requiring x-rays as proof of needed diagnosed treatment before they consider approval for payment.
Because we always place our patients health as our foremost priority, radiographs are conservatively taken and only when needed.
Faris Family Dental's radiographs are completely digital, meaning that the level of radiation is 90% less than traditional film x-rays taken by many offices and are able to produce immediate results for viewing. Every precaution is taken to ensure the patient's safety, including regular mandatory inspections by state officials for compliancy.
Periodontal Therapy & Maintenance
Commonly referred to as a "deep cleaning", a periodontal cleaning is a treatment for gum disease, or periodontitis, which helps lessen the effects of gingivitis. Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums caused by decay and poor dental hygiene or by certain types of bacteria. By giving the gums a periodontal cleaning, periodontal disease can be maintained, but sometimes can be halted or reversed if caught in the early stages. This prevents excessive bad breath, excessive decay, bone loss and eventual tooth loss. Studies by the American Heart Association and the American Dental Association have shown that when such plaque and tartar creates "pockets" between the tooth and the gums, bacteria can enter the bloodstream leading to serious conditions resulting in heart attacks or strokes. Smokers are at greater risk of developing this disease than non-smokers.
Generally, if periodontal disease is not well-advanced, tartar will build up on the surface of the teeth near the gum line. This may require a deep scaling and cleaning of the tarter using special instruments and techniques. This procedure is a bit more advanced than a simple tartar scaling performed during each bi-annual check-up as it involves, in some cases, working under the gum line to remove tartar build-up that has already reached the root of the tooth. This tartar removal is necessary to prevent pockets from forming, in which decay can move into the tooth itself. Patients are usually given topical and/or local anesthesia for their comfort.

Sedation Dentistry For Your Comfort
Understanding that select patients may be apprehensive about dental treatment, we are pleased to offer sedation dentistry. We're very proud to say that we have gained the trust of many patients who once requested sedation and now no longer feel it is necessary. We offer the following options:
Valium - a high powered sedative pill that the patient takes for anxiety. Typically an adult patient will take one the night before and again when they arrive at the office. The patient will need a driver. Of course the patient's medical history will need to be reviewed by the doctor before it is administered.
Nitrous - sometimes referred to as "laughing gas" this option puts the patient at ease, creating what some patient's describe as a "floating" sensation VIA a nose pieces mixing Nitrous and Oxygen. Valium and Nitrous can be combined with the doctor's approval on adult patients.

Fillings: Amalgam & Composite
Faris Family Dental is pleased to offer the option of amalgam (silver) fillings or composite (white) fillings. During an appointment for fillings, decay will be removed from the tooth and the tooth will be filled with material to make it strucuturally sound again. Many patients opt to have their amalgam (silver) fillings replaced with new composite (white) filling technology for a pleasing aesthetic and seemless appearance.
Schedule your consult with Dr. Pruitt, your Greenville, SC Dentist, to discuss which option best suits you! (864) 282-8555.
Crowns, Bridges & Implant Crowns
We take great pride in our crown and bridge work! You can count on only the finest quality from the initial impression, to the temporary and to the final permanent crown placement. The results are exceptional and you will be pleased with the look, feel and quality of your crown restoration! Our crowns are also free of any metal seams at the gumlines, giving a more pleasing result than most older crowns.
A crown is designed to provide greater structure to a tooth beyond the repair of a filling or to create a more pleasing look cosmetically. A bridge is designed to do the same, but also consists of an attached "floating crown" that fills in the space where a natural tooth once resided. For patients interested in implant crowns, we work in conjunction with a highly reputable oral surgeon for placement of the implant, while we place the implant crown. Our crowns and bridges are fabricated by one of the finest labs in the country, ensuring an exceptional quality product. In fact, our lab is so exceptional that they warranty their crowns and bridges to show such quality!

Root Canal Therapy
A root canal sounds far more involved than what it really is. In fact, we've been told by some patients that they compare the treatment from their view as being the same as a filling. Root canal treatment involves repairing and saving a tooth that has become badly decayed or infected. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and the pulp are easily removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form. "Root canal" is the term used to describe the natural cavity within the center of the tooth. The pulp, or pulp chamber, is the soft area within the root canal. The tooth's nerve lies within the root canal. A tooth's nerve is not vitally important to a tooth's health and function after the tooth has emerged through the gums. Its only function is sensory - to provide the sensation of hot and cold. The presence or absence of a nerve will not affect the day-to-day functioning of the tooth.
Sometimes a crown will be necessary to further secure stability of the natural tooth as the patient's natural tooth may become brittle following the root canal and be subjective to breakage, thus leading to an extraction. If the patient has previously had a crown placed on the treated tooth, a permanent filling will need to be placed in the top of the crown instead to seal the access opening from the root canal procedure.

Oral Surgery
While we do treat patients for single and multiple extractions, certain cirsumstances may require for a patient to see an oral surgeon (ie: impacted wisom teeth, sinus issues). Please schedule a consult or a cleaning appointment with our our office at (864) 282-8555 to see Dr. Pruitt for an evaluation to determine your needed treatment.
Dentures & Partials
Dentures and partials are not a replacement for teeth - they're a replacement for no teeth. Whether you've lost your teeth due to trauma, decay or periodontal disease, replacing your natural teeth with a removal prosthetic appliance is a new way of life. A patient must learn to speak and eat, among other daily routines. Faris Family Dental works closely with patients and our state-of-the-art lab to ensure that the patient is pleased with the color and size of their teeth for cosmetics, as well as the comfort and proper fit.
During your consult, we will meet with you to discuss which prosthetic you may be a candidate for. There are so many different options of partials and dentures available to patients! In addition, we are pleased to work in conjunction with a reputable oral surgeon's office for patients interested in implants for dentures. This option is especially an excellent one for patients who have difficulty keeping a lower denture in place due to lack of suction. While it is a much more costly investment than a standard denture without implants, the results are outstanding and incredibly comfortable!
We also welcome patients who need adjustments to their current dentures and/or partials, as well as replacements! Call Faris Family Dental , your Greenville Dentist, today at (864) 281-8555 for more information.
